Terms of Service

You must be at least 18, legally able to work in the United States, and able to pass our identity verification and background screening. We may decline or end anyone’s access at our discretion, subject to the notice we owe you under applicable law.

Canvassers are independent contractors, not employees of Civically Engaged or of the campaigns they work for. You choose which jobs to accept and when to work them. You are responsible for your own taxes; we issue the tax forms the law requires based on what you earn.

• Only claim work you intend to complete.
• Record outcomes honestly. Falsifying a door, a call, a signature, or a photo is grounds for immediate removal and forfeiture of the related pay.
• Follow the law wherever you are working, including rules on trespass, solicitation, canvassing hours, and election activity.
• Treat voters, campaign staff, and other canvassers with respect. Harassment, threats, and discrimination are not tolerated.
• Do not use voter data you see on the platform for anything other than the job it was given to you for.

Campaigns must verify their organization before posting work, and must pay for a job before people can claim it. When you post a job you are buying canvassing services from Civically Engaged; Civically Engaged contracts with and pays the canvassers who perform it. You remain responsible for the legality of the work you post, including your own campaign finance and disclosure obligations. Work that is fraudulent, harassing, or unlawful will be removed and the account closed.

Campaigns. You pay Civically Engaged for a job in advance, at the price shown when you post it. That payment buys services from Civically Engaged; it is not money we hold on your behalf. It is drawn down as tasks are completed and pass review, and any balance for work that is never performed is refundable to you.

Canvassers. Pay for each task is shown before you claim it, and is owed to you by Civically Engaged rather than by the campaign. Earnings accrue as tasks complete and are paid out to the account you connect. Tasks found to be falsified or materially incomplete on review are not paid.

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account for violating these terms, for fraud, for conduct that puts others at risk, or where we are required to. Earnings for legitimately completed work remain payable to you.

The platform is provided as is. We do not guarantee that work will be available in your area, that a campaign will post more work, or that the app will be uninterrupted. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amounts we paid or owed you in the three months before the claim.
