Your data
Request your data
What to include
- Send it from the email address on your account. It is how we know the request is yours. If you can no longer reach that address, say so and we will verify you another way.
- Which of the three you want: a copy of your data, a correction to something that is wrong, or deletion.
- For a correction, what is wrong and what it should say.
Do not send identity documents or your Social Security number by email. We will never ask you to.
What happens next
We confirm we have your request, and we respond within 30 days. If a request is complicated enough to need longer, we will tell you before that runs out rather than after.
There is no charge, and asking costs you nothing else — making a request never affects your standing, your stars, or the work available to you.
What we cannot delete
Some records we are required to keep, and a deletion request does not reach them:
- Payment and tax records. What we paid you and when. Tax law sets how long these are kept, not us.
- Background screening records, for the period the Fair Credit Reporting Act requires.
- Records tied to an open dispute, investigation, or legal hold, until it closes.
Everything outside that is deleted or irreversibly anonymized. We will tell you specifically what was kept and why — you should not have to guess which half of the answer applies to you.
Background check reports
A screening report about you was produced by a consumer reporting agency, not by Civically Engaged. You have the right to a copy of it from them and the right to dispute anything inaccurate in it, and disputes about its contents go to that agency — we cannot correct another company’s report. If you do not know which agency produced yours, email us and we will tell you and give you their contact details.
Where you live matters
Depending on your state or country you may have additional rights, including the right to appeal if we refuse a request, and the right to complain to your data protection authority. Ask and we will honor them.
